The Current Book I am Reading

Image
It has been a really long time since I last posted on this blog and a lot of things have happened since I last did so. I have read a lot of books, too numerous to do reviews on, so I thought that I would do a brief post about the current book that I am reading which is THE MINISTRY FOR THE FUTURE (the title of the book is all in caps) by Kim Stanley Robinson, so here it goes. The plot so far: I have only read up to page 107 of this book at the moment and from what I have read the book is set in the near future and deals with some of the effects of climate change in the books world which I have to say I find really interesting and enjoyable to read. The Characters: The book so far has quite a few different characters and the story is told from some of there perspectives. Would I Recommend This Book: I would answer this question with yes, if you are a fan of the authors previous books then there is good chance that you will really enjoy this one. That's it for now but I hope to co...

Siamese Doll Review

Image
Instead of going out on Father’s Day my family and I decided to go for dinner the night before, we decided to try out Siamese Doll which as it turned out was a great choice. The food was really tasty, we all had an entrée (my Mum and Dad had dumplings and I had pork buns), a main ( my Mum had Salt and Pepper squid, my Dad had Lamb shank mussaman curry and I had Sweet and sour pork ) and we shared two Siamese Doll filled doughnuts for dessert. The atmosphere was vibrant, it had good modern background music and it was one of the reasons that we would go back, another was the service was very good and attentive even when busy. The food was really tasty and looked really nice (see pictures above), my Mum, Dad and I all had entrées, my Mum and Dad had dumplings which they enjoyed and I had pork buns which I chose initially because it was something that I had not had before and it sounded nice. After my first bite I knew that they sounded, looked and tasted n...

Burger Fuel Customs Street Review

Image
Two weeks ago, my Mum and I happened to be walking past the Burger Fuel on Customs Street, we didn’t go in but both thought it would be nice to try as we had both nether been to one before, so last week we decided to go there for lunch. I have to say that the service here was great, the food was absolutely amazing and really filling and so was the atmosphere even though when we got there not many people were there. Both of us agreed that we would come back for lunch at some point in the future. I have to say that the food at Burger Fuel was absolutely amazing, both of us had the C N Cheese Burger (see above for some photos that I took of it), not only did it taste amazing (I said to my Mum that it was one of the nicest burgers that I have ever had) but it was also really filling as well, to the point where you could just have the burger for lunch and you would not need anything else afterwards, if you love Cheese then this is definitely the burger for you because it doe...

Hollywood Metro Review

Image
On Tuesday this week my Mum and I couldn’t exactly decide on where we wanted to go for lunch so we decided to try out Hollywood Metro (one of the many Hollywood Bakeries around), it’s not really designed for people to sit down and have their lunch there so we got our lunch and went and sat down in the lobby of the AMP building which has great views and is really warm (I described this in more detail in my review of Lobby Espresso). Overall Hollywood Metro is good if you are looking for a quick bite to eat though other locations might be better suited depending on the amount of time you have for lunch. My Mum and I both got a roll, she had a chicken roll and I had a BBQ Pork roll, my roll was quite balanced in terms of how much meat there was compared to lettuce or other such things (I have had ones before were it seems like the filling is ninety percent lettuce and carrot and maybe ten percent meat and some sort of dressing), so that was a nice surprise, it was also quite fi...

TEED ST LARDER Review

Image
Today my Mum, Dad and I stopped at TEED ST LARDER for a coffee (I had a Hot Chocolate) and it was really enjoyable. Initially my first impressions of the place from the outside were that it looked ok, but once we went inside this changed, it had a great atmosphere there was lots of nice-looking food to choose from, the service was great and though it is not something that I usually comment on even the bathroom was nice. I would definitely go back here and would recommend it to anyone parsing through Newmarket who were looking for somewhere to have a drink and something to eat. There was lots of nice-looking food here to choose from, we ended up getting a carrot cake, a chocolate and cherry brownie and a doughnut. I did not try the carrot cake but my Mum and Dad did and they thought it was moist with fantastic icing, all three of us tried the chocolate and cherry brownie and thought it was nice,   I also thought that it was not to sweet and texture wise it was what a...

A&W Root Beer: A Short Review

Image
Recently I tried a can of A&W Root Beer for only the second time ever and I have to say after I had finished it my opinion of it was mixed. The smell of it reminded me of mouth wash and to a smaller extent the taste of it did as well, but to be fair once I had got past that it didn’t taste to bad and was kind of nice. Having not had A&W Root Beer from an A&W restaurant I can’t say if it tasted like it did because it was in a can (and produced by the American Manufacturer Keurig Dr Pepper)   or whether it would taste the same regardless of whether it was in a can, a bottle or a cup, so the next time I am in Canada or the U.S. I’d like to try all three to see if there is any difference in taste.   If I had to rate A&W Root Beer, I would give it a 6 out of 10. The reason being that despite the initial smell and some of the taste it was not to bad and it was nice enough that I would drink it again in future, and though it would not be my first choic...

Lobby Espresso Review

Image
On Tuesday last week my Mum and I decided to go to Lobby Espresso because it was quite a bit warmer inside than it was outside and because the week before we had walked past it and the food looked nice. I have to admit that I forget the name of what my Mum and I ordered (they can be seen in the pictures above) but we both thought the food was nice   and the drinks (Coffee and a Hot Chocolate) were ok though a bit expensive, that being said the atmosphere of the place was great and the service was good. I would recommend Lobby Espresso to people though be prepared to pay a bit more for a nice lunch. Though I can’t remember the name of what we ordered they were both really nice and something that both of us would get again if we were to back again and have lunch (see the pictures of what we got above). We were both given knives and forks which was good and usually helps you eat whatever it is that you have ordered, and it did for my Mum though for me it didn’t (I’m not ...
