Hollywood Metro Review

On Tuesday this week my Mum and I couldn’t exactly decide on where we wanted to go for lunch so we decided to try out Hollywood Metro (one of the many Hollywood Bakeries around), it’s not really designed for people to sit down and have their lunch there so we got our lunch and went and sat down in the lobby of the AMP building which has great views and is really warm (I described this in more detail in my review of Lobby Espresso). Overall Hollywood Metro is good if you are looking for a quick bite to eat though other locations might be better suited depending on the amount of time you have for lunch.

My Mum and I both got a roll, she had a chicken roll and I had a BBQ Pork roll, my roll was quite balanced in terms of how much meat there was compared to lettuce or other such things (I have had ones before were it seems like the filling is ninety percent lettuce and carrot and maybe ten percent meat and some sort of dressing), so that was a nice surprise, it was also quite filling and at the end of it I felt that I didn’t need anything else. There was also a good amount of source in the roll which was really nice though really spicy (my Mum’s roll had the same source and also agreed that it was spicy), it left me with my face red and my nose running but I would get it again  and I would recommend it to people.

We didn’t spend a lot of time in Hollywood Metro but from the amount of time that we did spend in it, it seemed quite nice and that effort had been made to make it look good despite the small amount of space that it had. A slight downside is that a table and chairs are right by where the drinks are which would not normally be a problem but when my Mum and I went there were people sitting there blocking where the drinks were so we were unable to get a drink. This did dampen the atmosphere a bit but overall it was still quite nice.

As we did not spend much time there, I can’t comment that much on the service but what I can say is that it was the sort of service that you would expect from such a place that is to say it was good but not something you would rave about to friends or family.

If I had to rate Hollywood Metro I would give it a 6 out of 10 because while it is a small location and the table and chairs that are there could be better placed, the food My Mum and I had was quite nice and filling, and if you are in the bottom of town and feel like a quick bite to eat it is a good place to go. I would recommend this place to people who don’t have a long lunch break or just feel like a pie and something sweet to eat.
