Siamese Doll Review








Instead of going out on Father’s Day my family and I decided to go for dinner the night before, we decided to try out Siamese Doll which as it turned out was a great choice. The food was really tasty, we all had an entrée (my Mum and Dad had dumplings and I had pork buns), a main (my Mum had Salt and Pepper squid, my Dad had Lamb shank mussaman curry and I had Sweet and sour pork) and we shared two Siamese Doll filled doughnuts for dessert. The atmosphere was vibrant, it had good modern background music and it was one of the reasons that we would go back, another was the service was very good and attentive even when busy.

The food was really tasty and looked really nice (see pictures above), my Mum, Dad and I all had entrées, my Mum and Dad had dumplings which they enjoyed and I had pork buns which I chose initially because it was something that I had not had before and it sounded nice. After my first bite I knew that they sounded, looked and tasted nice as well as that they would not fill me up too much before my main arrived. All three of us had different mains my Mum had Salt and Pepper squid, my Dad had Lamb shank mussaman curry and I had Sweet and sour pork, we all really enjoyed these, they were tasty, looked good and were filling. More often than not we don’t end up getting a dessert but, on this occasion, we did, and I am really glad we did because the two Siamese Doll Filled Doughnuts, we had tasted amazing and made me want to keep eating them despite feeling full. The food is one of the many reasons that I would go back there.

The atmosphere here turned out to be really good (my Dad and I had walked past here a few times before where it didn’t look like much was happening), there was nice music playing in the background that was not to loud, there were quite a few tables for people to sit at despite the kitchen area being in the centre of the place. Overall, I would say that the atmosphere here was really good and is one of the reasons I would go back here for dinner and would recommend that others do so as well.

I will admit that is has been a number of weeks since my Mum, Dad and I went here but from what I remember the service here was quite good, they remembered what we ordered (which may seem like not much of a thing, but there was a time in the past where this did happen to us) and it was quite busy but we didn’t have to wait a long time before we got what we ordered so that was good. Another one of the good things was that even though we arrived slightly before the time we had booked a table we were able to get the table. 

If I had to rate Siamese doll out of 10 I would give it a 7 out of 10 because the food, atmosphere and the service were all quite good and were all reasons that my Mum, Dad and I would all go back here for dinner and are also reasons that I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice place and somewhere that is a little bit for dinner.

Having watched the TV show I thought it would be interesting to read the book version, and I have to say that it was very enjoyable to read and just as good as the show. One of things that I liked about it was that it had some things that Billy Connolly saw and did along Route 66 which didn’t make it into the show, which I thought were still interesting even though he didn’t think much of them (I can see why they didn’t make it into the show), and if I were every lucky enough to travel along Route 66 on my own journey   I don’t think I would visit those places ether. That being said there were other things that I liked about the book such as that if you were traveling along the same route you could almost use the book as a guide for what things to do and what places to go as you make your way from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, California. My Review of Avengers Endgame (2019)

        Having been disappointed with how Avengers Infinity War (2018) ended I had mixed feelings about going to see Avengers Endgame, part of me was hopping this would be an epic superhero movie and another part was thinking it might be a disappointment like the last one fortunately it was the former. I found that the plot was well paced and kept me interested for the whole three hours and was not slow at any point, and given how many characters the directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo had to fit into the film I think they did a very good job with even some of the minor characters from   previous Marvel films getting some screen time.   As well as most of the characters we have come to expect from an Avengers film (Black Widow, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, and Captain America etc) Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson) was also included.   From the small (in my opinion) amount of screen time that Larson’s character had I can see why peop...

“A Higher Loyalty – Truth, Lies and Leadership”, by James Comey Book Review

Before I started reading this book all I knew about James Comey was that he had been Director of the FBI and was fired by Donald Trump, so when I picked it up from my local library, I was very excited to start reading the book and find out more about the man that I had seen commentators on TV talk about a lot throughout the later part of 2016 and early 2017. It turned out to be a very interesting book to read and one that I would possibly buy in future. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know about some of the more recent events in U.S. politics. When I started reading this, I thought James Comey’s book would be more about some of the events of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election and the early part of the Trump presidency (which the later part of it was), but it turned out that a large proportion of the book was semi-autobiographical detailing his early life and his early career.
