Café Greco Review


Earlier this week my Mum and I had lunch at Café Greco and it was really enjoyable. My first impression of this place the first time I saw it the week before was that it was just your usual café you would expect to find in a city but a week later having lunch there my impression of this café changed in a good way, they had a better food selection than I had thought previously and the food itself was really good too, the atmosphere was really good as well and the service was good too.
As the name of this place implies this is a café and therefore, they have the usual type of food you would expect from such a place like paninis and pies to name a few, they also had a menu on the wall that you could order more food from. What was a little different about this place was that it had a selection of hot food of the type you can get at places like Magic Wok and other similar places, though I did not try any of the food from this I thought it was a good point of difference between Café Greco and other places I have had lunch at, it is also something that makes me won’t to go back there.
Like other cafes you can get coffee’s and hot chocolate, the hot chocolate I had was really nice and one of the best that I have ever had (and I have had a lot of hot chocolates, though I am no expert), this is also something that makes me want to go back there. I chose a bacon and egg muffin for lunch which was nice and better than what you would get at McDonald’s but it was also a bit small and by itself it would probably not fill you up very much  (my Mum had a panini which in hindsight I should have gone for) which is something that I look for when having lunch or dinner.

The atmosphere of Café Greco made up for it, the reason why was that it was a cross between Hollywood Bakery and HeavenScent Food CO. (the place that my Mum and I had a really nice lunch at the week before). It had wooden floors like the place we had lunch at the week before, it had a tv on the wall playing music videos which greatly added to the atmosphere, it had exposed metal beams and an exposed brick wall and on top of all of these things it was warm (which is really good when it a cold winters day outside) and it even had a fish tank which was something different. While we were having lunch, my Mum said the place grows on you and I would have to say that I agree.

The service at Café Greco was good and friendly though nothing special, it was the kind of good service that chances are you would get at most café’s or other such places but it was good enough, and like the food, the hot chocolate and the atmosphere it makes me want to go back to the café and lunch there again, though I would try something different.

If I had to rate Café Greco I would give it a 7 out of 10 because the food was good and so was the service, but the thing that stood out to me the most about the place and the thing I think was the best about it was the atmosphere. If the food and service of the place is good but it has no atmosphere then chances are you would not want to go back to that particular place, this is not the case with Café Greco, I would go back there just on how good the atmosphere was and I would recommend the place to other people as well.

Having watched the TV show I thought it would be interesting to read the book version, and I have to say that it was very enjoyable to read and just as good as the show. One of things that I liked about it was that it had some things that Billy Connolly saw and did along Route 66 which didn’t make it into the show, which I thought were still interesting even though he didn’t think much of them (I can see why they didn’t make it into the show), and if I were every lucky enough to travel along Route 66 on my own journey   I don’t think I would visit those places ether. That being said there were other things that I liked about the book such as that if you were traveling along the same route you could almost use the book as a guide for what things to do and what places to go as you make your way from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, California. My Review of Avengers Endgame (2019)

        Having been disappointed with how Avengers Infinity War (2018) ended I had mixed feelings about going to see Avengers Endgame, part of me was hopping this would be an epic superhero movie and another part was thinking it might be a disappointment like the last one fortunately it was the former. I found that the plot was well paced and kept me interested for the whole three hours and was not slow at any point, and given how many characters the directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo had to fit into the film I think they did a very good job with even some of the minor characters from   previous Marvel films getting some screen time.   As well as most of the characters we have come to expect from an Avengers film (Black Widow, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, and Captain America etc) Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson) was also included.   From the small (in my opinion) amount of screen time that Larson’s character had I can see why peop...

“A Higher Loyalty – Truth, Lies and Leadership”, by James Comey Book Review

Before I started reading this book all I knew about James Comey was that he had been Director of the FBI and was fired by Donald Trump, so when I picked it up from my local library, I was very excited to start reading the book and find out more about the man that I had seen commentators on TV talk about a lot throughout the later part of 2016 and early 2017. It turned out to be a very interesting book to read and one that I would possibly buy in future. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know about some of the more recent events in U.S. politics. When I started reading this, I thought James Comey’s book would be more about some of the events of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election and the early part of the Trump presidency (which the later part of it was), but it turned out that a large proportion of the book was semi-autobiographical detailing his early life and his early career.
