“A Higher Loyalty – Truth, Lies and Leadership”, by James Comey Book Review

Image
Before I started reading this book all I knew about James Comey was that he had been Director of the FBI and was fired by Donald Trump, so when I picked it up from my local library, I was very excited to start reading the book and find out more about the man that I had seen commentators on TV talk about a lot throughout the later part of 2016 and early 2017. It turned out to be a very interesting book to read and one that I would possibly buy in future. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know about some of the more recent events in U.S. politics. When I started reading this, I thought James Comey’s book would be more about some of the events of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election and the early part of the Trump presidency (which the later part of it was), but it turned out that a large proportion of the book was semi-autobiographical detailing his early life and his early career. I found this bit of the book to be the most interesting part for me becaus...

My review of the final two episodes of the final season of The Big Bang Theory

Image
I have been a massive fan of The Big Bang Theory for quite a while and so I was excited but also a little sad when I finally watched the last two episodes of the final series. The series had been leading up to Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler (Dr. Mayim Bialik) winning a Nobel Prize for their discovery of super asymmetry, so it wasn’t hard to guess what some of the last two episodes would be about and as it turned out they did win a Nobel Prize which was nice to see. The final two episodes in the series featured all of the regular cast such as Penny, Sheldon, Leonard etc as well as one of the more minor characters of the show the owner of the comic book store Stuart (Kevin Sussman) who as always is quite a funny character and for the first time on screen we got to see Howard (Simon Helberg)   and Bernadette’s (Melissa Rauch) kids Halley (Sailah Nicol) and Michael (Nate Ash) who looked older than I   expected them to be. The Bing Bang Theory like ...

My Review of Billy Connolly’s Route 66

Image
Having watched the TV show I thought it would be interesting to read the book version, and I have to say that it was very enjoyable to read and just as good as the show. One of things that I liked about it was that it had some things that Billy Connolly saw and did along Route 66 which didn’t make it into the show, which I thought were still interesting even though he didn’t think much of them (I can see why they didn’t make it into the show), and if I were every lucky enough to travel along Route 66 on my own journey   I don’t think I would visit those places ether. That being said there were other things that I liked about the book such as that if you were traveling along the same route you could almost use the book as a guide for what things to do and what places to go as you make your way from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, California. When I think about it the book is not really that different than the TV show in terms of what is in it, it mostly follows what happ...
